KESS3 and Powergate Extend Ford Ranger Coverage with OBD Virtual Reading
Alientech announces Upgrade 3.29 for KESS3, featuring a new OBD Virtual Reading (VR) protocol for the Continental EMS2207 ECU. This update extends coverage to Ford Ranger pick-ups equipped with 2.5-litre petrol or ethanol (Flex Fuel) engines, and is also supported on Powergate devices.
Thanks to OBD mode with Virtual Reading, tuning professionals can now work through the diagnostic port without physical ECU intervention. The Continental EMS2207 ECU, installed on Ford Ranger 2.5-litre engines from 2012, can be accessed for optimizing engine response and adjusting power delivery — all through the convenience of the OBD diagnostic connector.
The availability of OBD VR alongside the already supported BOOT mode gives workshops maximum flexibility. When a quick, non-invasive connection is needed, OBD VR provides a streamlined workflow. For full ECU access and advanced operations, the BOOT mode remains available.
